Can I plug my Caravan/RV/Camper/Tiny House into my house wall socket?

A normal household wall socket is only 10 amp so this socket would not be powerful enough for most caravans without an adapter. If the inlet (male connector) on the exterior of your caravan is 16 amp rated then the socket you plug into must also be rated for atleast 16 amps or an adapter must be used

Why is the plug on my caravan different to my household wall socket plugs?

For the same reason you can’t plug most electric stoves into a standard wall socket – the current ratings are different so specific plugs prevent the hazard of them being interchanged

I don’t want to go to the expense of installing a dedicated caravan socket in my house, is there another way to connect my caravan to my house?

Yes, by using an approved adapter. The adapter has a circuit breaker which limits the amount of power the caravan can use to 10 amps (2300 watts). It has a male plug to plug into your standard 10 amp wall outlet in your house and a female cord connector for your caravan lead to plug into

Can I use this adapter anywhere?

We stock two types, one is weatherproof (IP44 rated) and the other must be used indoors. Both types can be used to plug into normal 3 pin outlets but multiboxes or extension leads must not be used

Will a caravan adapter power my food caravan?

You would need to be sure that what you normally use at full capacity in the food caravan does not exceed 10 amps (2300 watts). Food caravans & trailers often have 32 amp inlets and supply leads so this setup would require our 32 amp caravan adapter. Also it is common for food trailers to use other types of leads and connectors – 56 Series for instance, so the adapter may need to have this type of connector. Any doubt send us a photo
